Mike Judge has proven that he can make a hilarious half hour show, but with each episode being split in half by two different stories, the characters critiquing music videos, and commercials it certainly makes it more of a challenge to bring forth a worthy eighty minute movie. Fortunately, Mike Judge knew what he was doing and created the funniest film of 1996.
After having their television set stolen, Beavis and Butt-head (Both voiced by Mike Judge) try to find a replacement. Doing this they accidentally walk into the life of Muddy (Bruce Willis) who believes that they were sent to him to kill his wife, who stole a biological-warfare unit from him. Beavis and Butt-head go to Las Vegas, and while there they meet Muddy’s wife, Dallas (Demi Moore), who hides the war device in Beavis’ shorts. She sends them on a bus trip to Washington D.C. eventually planning to steal the device back, the whole time Beavis and Butt-head thinking they were sent to "do her" and still trying to find a tv.
This movie has some laugh-out-loud gags that took me by surprise. The humor may be considered for juvenile teens, but it is hard not to laugh at the two morons. I give creator, director, and writer Mike Judge so much credit for being able to transfer the funny characters into a hysterical motion picture. I have to give credit to Robert Stack who voiced Agent Flemming and believed Beavis and Butt-head were "the most dangerous men in America", and Cloris Leachman who played an elderly woman who thinks they are "young men who are so well behaved".
I also appreciate that this movie kept its PG-13 tv style. It could have easily become an unnecessary R rated movie.
Definitely the funniest movie of the year, I give "Beavis and Butt-head Do America" eight stars out of ten.
